Submissions for the 2018 festival is now closed.

The 28th Espoo Ciné culminated 14th of May to three sold-out screenings of the comedy Like Crazy. Also the animation The Red Turtle by the festival's main guest Michael Dudok de Wit, opening film Spoor and the comedy film The Hippopotamus were a huge hit among the audience. The 29th Espoo Ciné will take place 4th to 13th of May 2018. See you then!

The 28th Espoo Ciné kicks off on Friday more spectacular than ever! Ten days of breathtaking films, enjoyable and fun events and interesting conversations. Are you ready?

Our programme for 2017 includes romance, drama and thrillers with the right amount of musicals and touching animations. We have more films in our program than ever before - get ready for the new experiences!

The festival’s main guest is Michaël Dudok de Wit, Dutch master of animated film and an Oscar winner, whose highly praised latest animation The Red Turtle will be screened in Espoo. A work of this beauty can only emerge when the best animators from Europe collaborate with Studio Ghibli from Japan. Mr Dudok de Wit’s visit is organised in collaboration with the Animatricks Festival.
