The Committee

Sweden 2016

14 min

The Committee deals with the absurdity of democratic decision-making processes. It makes a humorous portrait of an international collaboration. A comedy investigates the nature of compromises, and mirrors political processes that often have great ambitions, but end up little to show.

Dancing for You is a musical and visual film about Vilde, a charming 12-year-old girl with a talent in an unusual field, especially for her gender: a physically-demanding Norwegian solo dance called Halling. She lives in the middle of a forest in Gransherad, Telemark with her parents, brother, one horse, a donkey, two cats and six goats. Regardless of gender, she is already one of the best in Halling dance for her age group. Vildes main goal now is the big Norwegian Championships called Landskappleik in Geilo 2014. But performance is not the most important - Vildes greatest wish is that her grandfather who has cancer will live as long as possible. She believes that if she can show Grandpa how much she loves him and life itself with her own force of nature and dance this will help her grandfather to live longer.

Angry Hamster
(Vihainen marsu)

Finland 2016
In Finnish with English subtitles
10 min

Angry Hamster is a short story about Tomi, a socially excluded man who lives with his mother. The young man's dauntingly routine everyday life is interrupted when his mother takes Tomi to town to celebrate his 23rd birthday. Tomi, who makes laconically analytical observations in his mind, is forced by a new situation to face his own feelings and prejudices about the world. Is life just a total misery, or is it not, after all? Perhaps the twisted world straightens out if you look at it from an even more twisted angle.
